THE VILLAGE EDIT / 003 / PREPARED 23 OCTOBER 2026
Outside the Village.
The fashion houses, faces and styling decisions worth noticing — from Paris and London to the Dalston Village uniform.
A good fashion edit should take you somewhere beyond the name on its cover. This issue looks outward: towards the dialogue between tailoring and sporting clothes, the presence of a coat, the confidence of a restrained palette and the people who give a collection its character.
These are curated selections, not six launches claimed to have happened this week. Our own Dalston Village clothes enter the discussion as a distinct, developing label with its own point of view. A collection's season, its presentation date and the date of its photographs are different things. The references below keep that distinction visible.
Louis Vuitton · Burberry · Fear of God · Wales Bonner · Gucci · Represent · Dalston Village / styled looks · DV after dark · People & culture
01 / LOUIS VUITTON / MEN'S SPRING–SUMMER 2027
Formal clothes. Informal company.
Louis Vuitton dates Pharrell Williams' men's Spring–Summer 2027 presentation to 23 June in Paris. The house places dandy dressing in conversation with surfing traditions. This is a next-season study, not an October runway report.
That juxtaposition is more interesting than simply declaring tailoring relaxed. Formal clothing has its own vocabulary: a defined shoulder, a lapel, a deliberate line through the body. Sporting references can interrupt those signals without erasing them. The question is where the interruption happens and whether it gives the outfit more life.
Our reading: borrow the relationship rather than the whole look. Put a familiar casual element beside a more resolved jacket. Let one colour separate the layers. A good contrast should make both pieces easier to notice, rather than leave them fighting for attention.
02 / BURBERRY / WINTER 2026
Let the coat carry the evening.
Burberry's collection announcement, dated 24 February 2026, places Winter 2026 in London after dark. Tower Bridge is reinterpreted inside Old Billingsgate; scaffolding, streetlamps and an FKA twigs soundtrack bring the setting into the clothes' story.
Our interest is the coat as an entire silhouette rather than a last-minute cover-up. Before thinking about accessories, notice where the waist sits, how much volume the sleeve introduces and what happens around the face. The strongest outer layer can make the quieter clothes underneath feel intentional.
The practical test is movement. Can the coat accommodate the layer beneath it? Does the outline still work from the side? Does an elaborate collar need a quieter neckline? A beautiful photograph invites the eye; the useful editorial question is what makes the outfit work beyond that one frame.

THE VILLAGE IN THE CONVERSATION / 01
Our clothes. The whole look.
A heavyweight hoodie can belong beneath a cropped navy technical bomber, with slate pinstripe pleated trousers, square toe boots and a worn in oxblood leather bag. A pale Sports Club tee can anchor a graphite puffer and chocolate leather midi skirt with tall boots. A stone Shareholders hoodie can sit under a long soft-structured coat against washed wide denim and espresso footwear.
These are three outfits, not three items photographed in isolation. Proportion, texture and the confidence of the wearer are the story. Like the houses elsewhere in this edition, the clothes are part of a whole visual language.
Volume without noise.
Fear of God's Collection Nine is our reference for studying the relationship between scale and restraint. The official lookbook is the source for the selected looks; we are not assigning a release date from an image filename or presenting the collection as an announcement made this week.
A restrained image gives proportion somewhere to register. With fewer competing colours, the eye follows the point at which a jacket stops, the space through a trouser and the weight of the shoe. It is a useful antidote to the idea that every interesting outfit needs more objects.
Our reading: oversized is a starting condition, not a finished styling decision. Decide where one shape ends and the next begins. Look at the complete outline from across the room. The best quiet outfit has still made a series of clear choices.

04 / WALES BONNER / MORNING RAGA, AUTUMN–WINTER 2026
A wardrobe with references.
The Morning Raga collection notes bring modernist architecture into a conversation about practical and sensual dressing. Geometric outerwear, sporting references and tailoring sit within that framework. The official lookbook credits the photography to Malick Bodian, London, 2025: the photographic date is not the collection season.
What interests us is the possibility of an idea being present without becoming a literal illustration. A jacket can suggest structure through its cut. A softer surface can change how that structure feels. A sporting garment can become more formal because of its company rather than because its original identity has disappeared.
Our reading: choose one contrast and give it room. Controlled structure against softness. A sporting reference against a tailored line. An outfit becomes more convincing when the relationship is precise, not when it tries to display every reference at once.

05 / GUCCI / GENERATION GUCCI, PRE-FALL 2026
An image can build a cast.
Generation Gucci provides a separate kind of reference: the lookbook as a constructed world. It should be read as the house's presentation of its collection, not confused with documentary evidence of a runway event.
A sequence creates meaning through repetition and interruption. Notice which silhouettes recur, how the attitude changes and when the styling makes an ordinary garment feel less predictable. Then ask whether the clothes remain interesting when the presentation is understood.
Our reading: consistency needs variation. A recognisable visual identity does not require the same picture twenty times. One unexpected proportion, a change in pose or a different relationship between layers can keep an established language alive.

THE VILLAGE IN THE CONVERSATION / 02
Two ways into a London evening.
After watching how Gucci constructs a cast and how the great houses handle volume, the test for our own uniform is simple: can the outfit hold attention without relying on the chest mark?
For a darker route, use Black Phase as a foundation for cropped outerwear, elegant trousers, a polished boot and one leather accessory. For a contrast led route, use Faded Bone against a strong dark jacket and skirt, keeping the lower half sharp. The outerwear, footwear and silhouette matter every bit as much as the tee or hoodie.
Our edit favours real style: fewer competing logos, stronger shapes and clothes with somewhere to go.

06 / REPRESENT / EDITORIAL PRACTICE
Give the clothes a context.
Represent separates lookbooks, articles, events and behind-the-brand material within its editorial navigation. That distinction is worth studying because each format has a different job. A lookbook lets the outfits speak together. An article can explain a design decision. A gathering can show the world around the label.
For this issue, the question is not which label has the loudest branding. It is what connects a set of looks when the logo is covered. Repeated proportions, a controlled palette and the relationship between casual and tailored pieces can establish an identity more convincingly than repetition of a name.
Our reading: a fashion publication should help readers see those decisions. It can admire a collection and still ask what is distinctive, what is familiar and what is worth taking into an existing wardrobe.

THE EDITOR'S NOTE
Borrow a relationship, not an identity.
A sporting reference beside tailoring. A strong collar against a controlled waist. Volume inside a close palette. The useful ideas are relationships, not instructions to become somebody else.
Look at the clothes you already own with a sharper question: which combination have you stopped noticing? Change the shoe. Give a familiar layer a different outer frame. Let a detail become visible by removing something that competes with it.
That is the reason to look beyond one label. Good fashion coverage should leave you with sharper eyes, not simply a longer shopping list.
08 / MODELS, DETAILS & CULTURE
People make the picture.
A lookbook is more than clothes in isolation. Consider how Loli Bahia’s campaign portfolio changes across Calvin Klein and Saint Laurent: the same model performs different tasks in different visual worlds. Fashion can travel because of the people creating the images, the stylist’s choices and the photographer’s framing. Follow Loli Bahia’s credited portfolio for source photography and dates. Her inclusion is editorial commentary, not a Dalston Village endorsement.
In London, Schiaparelli: Fashion Becomes Art at the V&A brings surrealist details into focus. The lesson for an everyday wardrobe is modest but powerful: a small change in scale, fastening or silhouette can overturn the familiar. Check the museum’s live visitor page for admission details.
The detail to take home
Try one surprising relationship: a rounded outer layer against a straight trouser; washed cotton against leather; polished footwear beneath a relaxed silhouette. The outfit should feel personal, not like a purchased copy of a runway.
